Franchise overview
The Jacksonville Jaguars began play in 1995 as one of the NFL’s modern expansion teams. Based in downtown Jacksonville beside the St. Johns River, the Jaguars give Northeast Florida its own major professional franchise and compete in the AFC South.
Jacksonville became competitive remarkably quickly, reaching the AFC Championship Game in only its second season. The franchise returned to the conference title game after the 1999 and 2017 seasons and has produced several division-winning teams.
